Simplex Intercom Systems

Duplex Intercom is the normal requirement between two people. When you call someone you expect them to be able to talk straight back to you. But in some environments this is not possible.
Duplex communications uses “VOX” (voice operated switch) control to switch the direction of speech between the two stations. This means the loudest wins. Some times in a noisy environment this courses problems where the “ VOX” won’t work correctly and only one way speech is possible. Most intercom systems over come this by using a “T” for talk button. This forces the speech to the noisy area and is called Simplex Intercom.
With the Alphacom system it is possible program individual intercom stations or groups of stations to work in simplex mode all the time. i.e. one way speech, user needs to press “T” to talk.

This is also possible with Pro700, but is not programmable.

There are a number of locations where this is useful:

  • Area’s where there is a high ambient noise.
  • Where a level of privacy is required.
  • Control room wants to listen to a theatre, treatment room, patient in a scanner.
  • Security gate Intercom
  • Office to Factory Intercom
